For teachers
A six-week project that fits a term.
Use it in a lesson block, a CCA or an after-school club. Students do the thinking, you keep them moving.
- Week 1
Spot
Walk the school. Each team lists five problems and picks one.
- Week 2
Design
Fill in the first three canvas parts: problem, solution, customers.
- Week 3
Cost it
Work out price and costs. Plan how to measure the benefit.
- Week 4
Test
Run the idea for real. Record numbers and no-face photos.
- Week 5
Pitch
Film the 3-minute video, or write the essay (up to 1,000 words). Test it on another team.
- Week 6
Submit
Run the checklist together and submit before the deadline.
Practical notes
What you need to know
- Each student needs their own parent or guardian’s consent, so send the heads-up to parents early.
- Students register as a team; use a teacher or parent email as the team contact for students under 13.
- Don’t put student faces in proof photos. Photograph objects, tally sheets, scales and shelves.
- Mixed-age teams are welcome: there is one category and every team is judged together.
A note for schools
SEBC is independent and isn’t a MOE programme. Please follow your school’s own approval process for student projects and external platforms.
